Windows Central Question

Im looking to buy a new phone and considering the Lumia 640. I had a Lumia 520 for years and was very impressed how tough it was. And how it was properly weighted and constructed so if dropped it would land on its back and diffuse the impact by popping apart.

So my question is the 640 says Microsoft not Nokia. Is it still made by Nokia? And is it made as well as the older Lumias?

Thanks for your time.

The 640 was actually the last Nokia phone.
I dropped the one I had a few times with no case on it and the phone survived without serious damage.
Had a ding or 2 on the corners from hitting a tiled floor.

Good luck there!

They are pretty tough. Same design as the 520, basically. The cover is made to pop off and the battery flies out when it hits something hard... This dissipates the crash forces.

There's and old video around here somewhere where it got better marks than most anything else in it's class for durability except on dust ingress or water protection.

If you liked your 520 the 640 is more of the same, IMHO.

Not sure if this helps but I have a 640XL and I think it is a great phone. It is robust and can easily stand a fair bit of punishment.
