Help! Sims 2 on Windows 10??

Hello! I'm not sure if this is the correct place to ask for game help but I am currently trying to play Sims 2 on Origin, however after downloading Sims 2 refuses to open. When attempting to open the Sims 2, I get a pop up that says," Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacture. The application will now terminate." My brother and I have tried multiple downloads such as DirectX 9.0c End-User Runtime. What else can we do? We are slowly losing hope in playing our favorite childhood game. My HP Notebook runs windows 10 and DirectX 12. My friend has the same HP Notebook and she is able to run The Sims 3 with ease.

Have you tried running the game with admin rights? Installing the DirectX End User Runtime should fix any DirectX issues. You can run dxdiag to determine if you have DirectX 9.0c available.

Did you try running the game in compatibility mode for whatever Windows version it supports?
