My charger cord burned if i plug it in will it affect my phone?

My charger was plugged into the wall and the cord burned just a little bit by a candle, i plugged the charger into an old phone to test if it would mess it up but it worked fine but im still not sure if it will mess up my phone after a while of using it

Usually a charger includes a micro USB and USB connecting cable.
The micro USB goes to your smartphone, and the USB goes to your charger.
Am I right so far ?

If I am right, are you saying the connecting cable got burnt by a candle ?
If yes, you can go to an electronic retail shop and buy a new cable.
It's dirt cheap.
