hi i had a windows 7 pro PC i hadn't activated it.

i updated pc to windows 10 pro and it wont let me activate it. any ideas on how you go about activating the windows 7 license to solve my issue with activating win 10

When you had Windows 7 Pro running in your PC, you should have it activated FIRST.

Upgrading from an non-activated Win 7 to Windows 10 will NOT get the installed Windows 10 activated.

Do you have a genuine Windows 7 Pro product key ?
If no, forget about activating Windows 10. It's not going to happen.

If you do have a genuine Win 7 Pro product key, then reinstall Win 7 Pro > activate it with the product key.
When that is done, you can then do a free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, and the installation will be activated automatically.
