I lost my Lumia 730 phone

Hi everyone , As the the title said i've lost my lumia 730 windows 10 phone, And i'm afraid that someone found it before i do , So i head right to my microsoft account because i have linked my phone with my account and i chose the lock option and it shows me [ enter pin and phone number and type a message] and it tells me that they will notify me when my phone is locked , The issue is that i'm not even sure if i activated the find my phone feature on my phone and i'm afraid that the he/she will hard rest my phone and erase everything so i want to know, Even if he/she hard rest my phone will i be able to track and even lock it once he/she connected to the internet or not .I just want to make sure the the thieve can't even use it or sell it.
