Why does the camera app crashes?

The camera app crashes regularly, most of the times jst after clicking the pic. Even when using through WhatsApp, it crashes and WhatsApp resumes. The reviews in the store tell the same scenario.

* Device & model?
* OS version, eg. 8.X/10
* Are you running any Insider builds?
* Native camera app, is it up-to-date?
* Have you tried a 3rd party camera app to eliminate it being a hardware issue?
* Does it crash while using either rear and/or front facing camera?
* Have you tried a "soft" or "hard" reset in an attempt to rectify?
