Super weird manufacturer date; need help

[Windows Central Question]

i just bought the new surface pro yesterday, Dec 30; but when i looked at system information, BIOS, it shows 3/30/2017....
however, Lot No. 1725

does anyone know whats going on? Thank you.

Maybe the BIOS or firmware hasn't been updated to anything more recent than that? Maybe it was a device made really early although I would wager not.

Buying new-in-box iPhones with older versions of iOS loaded isn't unheard of.
