"and the firm will certainly be hoping to make an impression on over 100 million viewers during the 30 seconds it'll have during the game. How much is RIM ponying up to CBS for the privilege of half a minute of Super Bowl time? Reports say that the average spot costs about $3.8 million"

Why couldn't Microsoft/Nokia come together and do this?!

    Go RIM. Go.

We have nothing to share on whether Microsoft has plans for a Super Bowl ad, was the response from Microsoft when asked. But with Surface Pro going on sale 6 days after the Super Bowl, thoughts are the commercial ( if there is one ) could be about that.

Super Bowl ads don't always mean good things. See Motorola Xoom commercial.

I think RIM should focus on BB 10 smartphones right now and worry about tablets after they've established their new smartphones.

(For the record I own the Blackberry Playbook and like it, or more accurately like the user interface and hardware build, so my comment isn't meant to bash RIM's ability to build a tablet but rather their possible desire to muddy the waters when they are in the very early stages of establishing BB 10.)
