This is ..... actually a good question, I haven't used my pen since I've upgraded and it's been rolling around in my bag. It's entirely possible that the battery is dead on mine, so I'll order one and try again. The instructions on Dell, at least for Windows 8 is basically as follows "install the battery, it should just work" It looks like it's enabled in settings and there's an option to calibrate it from the control panel > tablet settings which ... failed and I had to hard reboot because I didn't have my keyboard handy to exit the screen test.

So .... no real help, just a Me Too post.

Any update to this? Bringing up an old post, but didn't want to start a new one. I have the Dell Active Stylus and the Venue 8 Pro (updated to Windows 10), and can't find the driver to make it work.

, probably not, what you could do is getting a thick microfiber stylus that fits nice in the hand. It can work decently (though feels a bit like drawing with a thick marker) and is very cheap on chinese sites (especially the microfiber one). It worked on my Venue 11 pro, don't know if the venue 8 pro has a very different screen (don't think so).
Whatever you do, don't get those capacitive active pens since those most likely don't work on the screen because of the screen's coatings (I had that with my venue 11 pro).

Do you have a link to one you suggest? I searched and found tons, but they all appear to be a normal stylus you can get as a normal 'giveaway' and those don't work too well for note taking. Thanks!

, yeah you won't find the good stuff, only ok/passable. I found microfiber to be the best overall (it is smoother that rubber, lasts long and safe for the screen) but some have too small tips. Also the one with the transparent disk can be somewhat accurate (/you can see better what you are doing with fine strokes), but it can damage weak/plastic screens.
Here is one that combines both but I am not certain if the microfiber is big enough for good contact (probably a bit too thin):
https://www.amazon.com/Seadream-Second-Generation-Precision-Replacement/dp/B0157LXSTG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1535644018&sr=8-1&keywords=microfiber+disk+stylus

E.g. this is most likely thick enough but the handheld is crap:

While this one appears to be too thin (which results in having to press hard for good contact with the screen which is not comfortable):

Awesome. Thanks for the suggestions. I've found the pen/stylus combos (where they're on the same side of the pen) do not work well as it skips too much on the screen.
