Windows Central Question

how do you get Edge to retain state in tabs

When I switch tabs in Edge the old tab loses state so that if I have say half filled in a facebook post, switch to a new tab to look at something else, then switch back to facebook, the page reloads and the half finished post is deleted. This applies across every page and tab, it is not facebook specific

Can only assume memory is very low on your PC so hidden tabs are freed up. Get more memory or close other apps when running Edge?

thankyou but that cannot be the problem - or if it is then it is a problem caused by the browser. I am running win10 on a surface pro3 and even with only edge running there is the problem. Chrome with lots of other programs in the background - including Edge not working - has no trouble.

Re: How do you get Edge to retain state in tabs? FIXED

I deleted the hosts file suggested in another thread and Edge is now working well and as expected - still uses more memory than Chrome, but is retaining state and very fast

Nope- it is broken again after being open for a while. Hopeless experience with win10 so far on a surface pro3. I'll be giving this a go until the major update that is meant to be coming in October, but if the experience stays this poor I will be selling the Surface and getting a macbook air after being an MS person since DOS. Really disappointed in win10, I liked 8.1 but 10 is a step back as far as my experience goes and should not have been released with this lack of polish
