Address bar search set for Google but I get Bing'd instead

On my work computer I have it set to have Google as my address bar search engine. However, every time I try to search for something I get a Bing search error. What's happening is that Edge/Bing is trying to make a URL out of my search string. I do have an option to continue my search with Bing but the point is...i have it set for Google!!! How do I get Edge to actually use my setting? Lol
