I just installed windows 8 consumer preview on my fujitsu TH700

Having used tablets based on 3 generations of windows (vista, 7, 8), I have to say, windows 8 is awesome!

I have to say, before windows 8, I use my tablet in normal laptop mode for most work, and in tablet mode when I want to doodle. Not anymore! now I use my computer in tablet mode all the time.

Acer Iconia w-500 is $500-$550 new, somewhat cheaper used. I'm running the W8 preview on one with no problems. Remember, its beta, and works like it sometimes. I am however having fun with it.

I know it's a dumb question, but still:

If a tablet runs W8 preview, will it run W8 for sure (after it comes out)? Why I am asking:
I really do love WP and would love to have a tablet with the same os (Windows 8 in this case...), but just dont want to buy the tablets which will come out with the windows 8 release. I expect them to cost much more than the ones like Acer W500..

The secon question would be:
I checked the W500 and found out, that one only can buy the W500 with a keyboard (and UMTS) or without the keyboard (and without UMTS). I'd like to have one without the keyboard but with UMTS, so I can use my multicard from my phone. Is the Card-slot located on the keyboard or why is it not possible to buy the tablet with UMTS and without the keyboard? (I checked the german Amazon for the info. Maybe here in Germany there are other models...I dont know)

would be awesome of you guys if you could help me here :)

I expect and Microsoft has said that any current Windows 7 PC will run Windows 8. How well is another matter and there is always the chance of missing functionality eg NFC but I think most functions will work. From that perspective it may be best to wait as new tablets will provide all the functionality and if they are too expensive you should be able to pick up a W500 for even cheaper than today.

I have a US version of the 500 and the SIM slot is on the tablet itself but it doesnt work here so I suspect its just how Acer wants to sell the tablet in other countries which dictates whether it comes with either the keyboard or UMTS.

I had the CP on my Acer but had a problem that occured a few times where an app would crash then after a restart I would not be able to scroll from right to left in apps like the Store or Slacker. Have you experienced this? A refresh would not work and I would have to reset and that meant setting things up again so I went back to 7. Thanks.

As far as x86 tablets are concern, there shouldnt be a problem to use NFC as component manufacturers will sure to make usb add on devices for it. Dont forget current desktops/notebooks will also need the device when win 8 officially launches...

There are 4 current versions of the Iconia Tab:
W500
W500p
W501 (3G)
W501p (3G)
All can come with or without the keyboard depending on the country bought from.

Also Acer announced the W510 which will be the W8 version

I also have the US version of the W500. There are drivers on the UK ACER website for the Huaweii EM770W and Ericsson F3307 3G cards that you can most likely install in the US W500.

I currently run the Windows 8 Release Preview and have no issues. My only complaint is the SSD size but I could upgrade that is I wanted. Consumer Preview had some issues but Release Preview fixed them.

I have not been so fortunate with my Fujitsu TH700. The screen orientation button in inop and the screen goes dim and sometimes back to bright. Can't seem to control it so checked drivers and using a generic driver. Emailed Fujitsu about drivers and received the following response:
