I'm in the market for something a bit smaller than my surface. Just looking for opinion and reason. Where's my money going?

I think lenovo is the best, build quality is awesome, screen is much better than hp and dell's

Right now, as of CES, Lenovo has the best bang for the buck when it comes to W8.1 8" tablets. 1080p display, microsd slot, USB 3.0, 8mp rear shooter, 2mp front, and 64gb all packaged together for $399. $50 more and you get 128gb of space.

They said January and yeah I agree that the ThinkPad 8 looks like the best. It has the best screen resolution, an HDMI port, USB 3.0 a pretty sweet OEM screen cover/ tent mode/ camera toggle. It cost a little more than the other 8 inch windows tablets but I think it's worth it. There's also the asus vivotab note 8 if you need a Wacom digitizer stylus.

If you don?t need stylus, the Lenovo 8 seems the most interesting by far, because of its docking abilities. Anyway, there are still no real intensive reviews of it, so you may have to wait a little.

What about suggestions on build quality. My surface RT has impeccable build quality that I don't expect any of these to match but who's the runner up there? I mean the specs seem pretty much the same aside from a higher res screen here and there. The one with Wacom support seems most interesting but I don't want to wait. Also, which is best in terms of features?

The Lenovo ThinkPad has a higher clocked processor and it has a higher megapixel camera and the cool cover that makes for a stand and a fast camera

The Lenovo ThinkPad 8 is without question the best. Best build(metal back), best screen(1920x1200), and best CPU(BayTrail z3770 2.4Ghz).

Yeah but there's no real standout features to me aside from specs and I'm no spec *****. I like the wacom stylus on another option and the accessories that come with the dell

Seems to me that you are trying to talk yourself out of the thinkpad 8. If the wacom support is a huge deal, you are going to have to wait. I believe Asus has an 8 inch tablet with wacom support coming out next month.
