Problems With Dell Venue 8 Pro?

Myself and my partner have had our Dell Venue 8 Pro's for about 3 weeks now. Mine is fine, but my partners' has a problem where she can't change the log in process to either a pic or passcode (4 digits). There is simply no option on hers to change it; but there is on mine.

We've done several resets but none return the tablet back to its out of the box state.

We've contacted Dell who sent an OTG cable and a pen drive with the operating system on it.

We are both quite techy, but when we connect the OTG cable to the pen drive then into the tablet it says it needs power. We can't find a way of getting it to read the usb without the power connected. It needs both the usb its cab,e, and the power cable; but it only has one USB socket to connect both devices. A USB hub doesn't work either, as the hub has the effect of cutting out the power to the tablet.

Again we've contacted Dell but they were useless, and they now want her to send it in for repair.

Has anybody else had this problem and how did they resolve it?

Why don't you back up your files, create a backup admin account (no passwords, please!), then readd your partner's account to get DVP8?
