I've recently bought a Surface Pro 2 and initially had a few problems with sleep mode (it sometimes caused the tablet to shut down abruptly instead of sleep), though I think I've managed to fix it somehow, or at least I hope so. Anyway, I've noticed that when I use Spotify and press the power button to activate sleep mode, the music stops. However, if I leave the tablet alone it will eventually turn off the display and keep playing music, and doesn't seem to go to sleep (even though my power settings say it should sleep after 15 mins.).
So now I'm unsure as to whether it would be better if I change the power settings so that it never goes to sleep (at least when the tablet is plugged) and just turns off the display after 5 mins. of inactivity. This would be helpful if I'm just using it to listen to music, and to prevent an abrupt shut down in case the problem I used to have returns. Would that harm my hardware in any way?
