Yes. I just bought and quickly sold an Onda dual OS. I bought it a month ago from an ebay seller from China. Until a more reputable name brand releases a proper dual OS, I would stay away from buying one. Here is my story....

After paying, I waited a couple of weeks or so for the tablet to be deliverd. On the day it arrived, I quickly drove home from work, grabbed the package from my front porch, and went inside to open it. The tablet itself was rather nicely built for the price. I was pretty impressed. The screen was definitely not gorilla glass 1, 2, 3, 4, or whatever. It was covered in a plastic, pre-installed screen protector, and the resolution was pretty good. Good enough for me. Moving on.... I powered up the device, and it booted into Windows. The "company" I bought this tablet from had apparently already gone into the OS and installed the English language packs and set up an Admin account for me. Although this was nice of them, I am somewhat paranoid, so I immediately performed a reset....my fatal mistake. After completing the reset, everything was reverted back to Chinese. No biggie. I totally knew this would happen...Bing Translator app to the rescue. After a half hour or so, I was back in business...everything was once again in English. However, mysteriously, Windows was no longer activated. I was a little irritated now. So, I emailed the seller. His first response was, "I can't believe you reset your tablet right after you got it." I informed them/him that I always do that when someone has been in the OS before me. I also informed them that Windows was not activated on the tablet. They had the nerve to accuse me of trying to get an activation key to use on some other tablet that I might own. So, I sent pictures and other proof to ensure to them that it was, in fact, their tablet that was not activated. Once they were convinced, they sent me an activation code and instructions on how to get everything up and running. It didn't work. I emailed them again. They responded with a lengthy email informing me that what they were going to tell me was a secret, and that I could not tell anyone else what they were going to tell me. What?!?! I know....I was shocked. So, I called Microsoft to report all of this. Microsoft checked the now two activation codes that this seller had given me, and informed me that both were on the blacklist for being pirated. Great. I told the seller that I had contacted Microsoft about their activation codes. The seller was pretty mad, and asked me to return the tablet in exchange for a new one. I decided to just sell the tablet to someone more technically inclined that I am in hopes that they would get some use out of it.
So, from my experience, I can't recommend buying any dual OS tablet unless that tablet is being sold in/from a reputable retailer or manufacturer. I'd totally stay away from buying directly from China.
Hope that helps. :)

Hi thanks for your reply, onda should be a good brand but i read about other people saying that often on some of this Chinese tablet windows is not a genuine copy ( non only on dual boot OS tablets )

after resetting the tablet did you lose dual boot function? did you try to boot under android?

Thanks

Yeah, Onda it's a good brand, for sure. The tablet was of pretty good quality. Problems arose once the eBay seller got ahold of the tablet. They rooted the Android side of things, I'm assuming so that the Google store would work, they installed the English language packs on the Windows side, and forced a pirated key into activating Windows. I'm all for rooting and messing around with devices, but only under my own hand. I'm pretty paranoid about using a device that has been so thoroughly and illegally altered. Maybe I'm not technically savvy enough to really understand the potential consequences of using such a device, if there are any. I just got a little worried when the seller told me that the method for activating Windows was as secret. ha ha ha
Anyway... The dual booting function continued to work after several resets.

i never thought about that but they can actually install any kind of thing even a key logger that sends all data to somebody in china

but i think chinese seller do it just because these kind of products are not suppose to be sold outside china
i guess i'm going back to my first idea to get a standard windows tablet, probably an EVE T1 i live in Europe

Microsoft and Google are reluctant to license their products for dual-boot devices which is why you are not going to find many such devices from brand name manufacturers.

In countries that actually cares about intellectual property, this type of devices is a big "no-no".

Do activation issues like this only arise with dual boot tablets?

I'm interested in a Windows-only mini tablet from one of the new Chinese manufacturers (e.g., Onda, Cube, Teclast, Chuwi, Pipo). Main reason being they tend to have HDMI ports whilst mini tablets from mainstream manufacturers don't seem to include HDMI. Also like the fact that many of them have 4:3 screen ratios.

But I don't know who, if any, to trust with providing a device with properly licenced Windows that won't give me activation problems.

Any thoughts?
