Lenovo Thinkpad Tablet 2 Won't Update to WIndows 10

Hi all.

I am running into some trouble and would like to know if anyone here is having the same issue. Hopefully, I'm not the only one with a Thinkpad Tablet 2 here.

I went to update my tablet to Windows 10 yesterday and ran into a few problems. Windows 10 was not downloading correctly and I would get a Windows Update error. Finally, when I got up this morning the update was ready. However, I have now hit a new snag. Hence why I come to you good sirs.

When I click on the update icon on the system tray, it gives me an error. The screen states:
"Unfortunately, this PC is unable to run Windows 10."
"We're sorry to let you know that this PC can't upgrade to Windows 10 because one or more things are incompatible."

Then on the right, it states:
"Compatibility issue:
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator
The display manufacturer hasn't made your display compatible with Windows 10. Check with the manufacturer for support."

Can anyone tell me what I can do about this? I've already gone to Intel and Lenovo and updated everything they have and still nothing. Would mounting and running the ISO work? Would anyone even recommend that considering the warning about incompatibility?

I think this is a windows issue. I'm having the same issue and when I go to dells website they say that my device is totally windows 10 ready.

I have no idea. I haven't had a chance to upgrade yet. I have been running the developer preview on my TPT2 without any issues though.

bpcooper14, can I ask you, did you have to set up your installation USB as a gpt fat32 flash drive or did you use the windows installation media creator that Microsoft provides? I couldn't get my TPT2 to recognize the flash drive even after setting the BIOS up for legacy OSs. I just recently learned all about embedded Licenses and EFI boards so I had no clue about gpt partitions. This was last week so I didn't bother with the preview but I might now.

I just ran into the same issue with my Thinkpad. The one I have is not even two years old and came with Windows 8.1. I'm hoping it's just a driver or minor firmware update. That's the thing about these devices that have a lot of underlying manufacturer sub-systems that seem to run in parallel to the OS. They don't seem to update very often and I wonder if in this case the graphics system is just getting mistakenly flagged or is temporary. I updated a laptop last night though and that went through perfectly, and the spec.s aren't all that different including the graphics chips. Is it even worth it to contact Intel? Heheh...right!

I also update my laptop yesterday. Had no issues whatsoever. Woke up at 4 am and had Windows 10 fully operational less than two hours later. I wonder if this is something that either Lenovo or Intel have to fix. I know Lenovo is still working on the TPT2 because there are Windows 10 drivers for it in the support site. I will try creating a forum post on Lenovo's end and see where that goes for now.

Anyone else who might have missed this? We can't be the only ones with a TPT2 here.

I have an ThinkPad Tablet 2 here and got the same message when Win 10 became available. I did the update anyway using a usb-drive.
Unfortunately my Tablet became sluggish as hell. I think the graphics chip inside Tablet 2 is to slow to run all the animations the new system has. I tried turning off all the animations which didnt help.
You can try and do a clean install. Maybe that keeps it snappy. So you can use Windows 10 on it bur I wouldnt recommend it currently.

I just got my Thinkpad Tablet 2 to upgrade using the media creator, but now I can't get a touch keyboard to appear on the screen.

I got the same exact error on my thinkpad tablet 2 as well. I was considering creating a media USB install, however, after reading other's experiences with sluggish performance, I've decided against it. I hate windows 8.1.... if the tablet cannot be updated, I may seek a linux solution.

That's weird. My ThinkPad Tablet 2 didn't give me that issue. I did have to force it to update though.

I got the same problem, graphic driver not compatible with win 10 yet. I read the post in this forum saying you can manually upgrade to win 10 but display of sluggish.
I checked the forum of another tablet, whose processor is atom z3745, instead of z2760. However, those two should be in the same boat as both Intel's page showing only compatible to win 8.1. Some one said if you manually change the graphic driver to Intel HD graphic instead of the default Microsoft generic after manually upgrade to win 10, everything runs smoothly.
Can someone confirm this is true also for tpt2?

I guess I got lucky, I never got that graphics issue. I manually made it upgrade by using the command method. I also deleted the files from the download folders ( C: / Windows/ Software Distribution/ Downloads/). As of right now, everything is running smooth. The only time the display gets sluggish is when I'm trying to type, but its only for a couple seconds and then goes back to normal. I'm typing on my tablet right now. All the drivers should be compatible.

i have a thinkpad tab 2 as well ,i got the same message so i updated via usb,it installed fine runs ok,but the battery life is now half of what it use to be .Even when the machine is idle the battery is drained ,hope their is an update coming to fix this or i might have to go back to 8.1

I was able to get the upgrade to complete and it works fine...if you have a dock.

BUT, the wireless drivers do not work and neither does the touch screen.sonit is pretty much worthless.

I did a clean install vs an upgrade though. So I was going to revert back to 8.1 and try the upgrade but doesn't sound like that will be an option.

Let us know the thread you create so we can all chime in.
I have also tried downloading most of the updates and they didn't help from Lenovo.

I wanted to do a clean install but went with the upgrade option. After I upgraded, I did a hard reset which helped out a lot. You don't need a dock in order for it to work. I have the dock too and it works with or without it. It sucks because its working perfectly on mine. I think it might be a Windows issue.

Same issue here on tab2. I used the reg hack to allow upgrade to proceed. After install the display is very laggy most of the time. Has other issues with some popup menus being blank (display issue), miracast not working. Otherwise is ok to use till a drive update becomes avail. I might try the Intel HD driver and see if that helps any.

Alex. Would you mind posting instructions on how you forced the Windows 10 upgrade via command line. Also if there are any other step you recommend please post them. Your upgrade seems to be the most problem free.
