Keyboard issues with apostrophe and other characters

Hi,

I noticed this issue in the past few days. When I press the apostrophe key, the cursor moves but it does not show anything. If I press it again, it will show 2 apostrophe signs and then if I backspace, it might or might not show the first one.

I thought it was an issue with my surface 3 but now I've also seen the same behaviour in my laptop

My laptop also has had the apostrophe and @ keys swapped though I think I know why that is so.

What could the issue be? I've not had time to troubleshoot the issue but maybe someone has an idea?

Both running 10586.420, no insider release

Are you using a language toolbar?

I've seen weird things happen with language toolbars especially with key mappings.

no, I'm not. I haven't had time to properly check the issue but hopefully I get time today when I get home

Update - the issue went away by itself - don't know why or how. For both laptop and my surface 3
