Try to do Soft reset then check it again.
? keep update your phone.

Are you using AU Non -insider (14393.xxx) or 14915*.
* Open Settings> type ' about ' in settings search bar.
Under About, check OS build.

You'd only use web WhatsApp in continuum, so on continuum desktop, open edge, goto web.whatsapp.com then you'll as barcode.

Now pick up the phone, open the WhatsApp app, goto the web WhatsApp in the settings, point to the qr code on the continuum big screen.

Don't think you can use web.WhatsApp.com while on mobile only though

I want to use web WhatsApp on my regular laptop, of course.
The problem is, WhatsApp stopped recognising QR codes.

It's probably because Microsoft removed QR code regognistion from Windows. We're not the only ones with this problem. I hope it'll work after we got the Anniversary update

Scan - QR Code and Barcode Reader is working fine on my AU device (L1520.3).

I'd look to the App Developer for a solution. It's not like scanning simply cannot be done.

I wonder if trying to scan the screen is giving the elite x3 problems. Can you print the barcode out and scan it on a piece of paper?

Anyone have a solution to this yet? I just got an Elite x3 today, and I'm having this problem as well. I updated my phone as much as it could be, but I'm not in any of the Insider rings or anything.

I tried the WhatsApp beta. It didn't make a difference.

I'm only on the production ring for W10Mthough. Is anyone on the Insider program faring any better? I emailed WhatsApp, and they said they're aware/working on it, and couldn't give me any other details.

Microsoft just released a new camera app for those on fast ring. it should be worth a try.

Purchased the Elite yesterday and was disappointed to find out Whatsapp web does not work because of camera issues. I was not aware of this problem. Pretty annoying since i use the web version more then anything else. I might even return the Elite since I wonder how long it will take before HP comes with a solution, people are complaining from the moment the elite was available so it must be a hard fix and I am not sure if i can wait that long.....

Same here, bought the x3 a few days ago and i find that quite a few apps that worked just fine on my 1520 don't work on my x3. Same Mobile build on both phones. Indeed WhatsApp on my pc can't start up any longer, several apps that worked just fine on my 1520 don't work on the x3 e.g. Office lens. Furthermore I have to reboot my phone frequently to reactivate basic functionality. Especially watching clips or film is very challenging for my x3. Overall I am beginning to regret getting this phone
the overall experience on my 1520 was better.

Just wrote a long reply on my x3, but it vanished into thin air. Back on my 1520 because that actually works. I have the same problem with whatsapp. Other problems with the x3 relate to watching video and film, I often have to restart the phone to make it work. Apps that worked just fine on my 1520 don't work on my x3. Overall I'm disappointed about the x3, it costs a fortune and it underperforms in comparison to my three year old 1520. I lost all the Lumia apps and features, its not any faster than my 1520 and the camera has lost the option of living images. Im seriously considering returning this phone. The things it adds, like the iris and fingerscanner, continuum and waterproof don't outweigh the malfunctioning apps and lost functionality. I guess it needs a few more firmware updates to make it work. Unbelievable.

Same here, im running in to all sorts of small inconveniences with the x3. I can't believe they are doing another 950 thing.
