Windows Phone 8S by HTC

Having just seen this, I've noticed that the 8S says it is only 3G.

Compare this to the Lumia 820 that says it's 4G ready: Nokia Lumia 820

I thought as the 8S was going on VZW it would have to have 4G built into it. Yet in the UK CPW says it doesn't. Could this be an error or is there still a 3G only phone being released to VZW in the US? Or is the 8S not being sold for VZW at all?

Isn't the UK only 3g at this second? I thought 4g was about to go live in the next couple months. Maybe that's why it only lists 3g. Guarantee it has 4g capability but only 3g matters at this minute.

On the same website, it lists the Nokia Lumia 820 as being 4G ready, but not the 8S. That's the thing. I would understand if it was both saying 3G only, but one says 4G the other says 3G. Both for the UK btw. And yes, we are 3G only at the minute.

Also, don't forget in the states the carriers have a habit of calling HSPA+ (3.5G) 4G and also call LTE 4G.

I think it's too early to know for sure. It certainly looks like the 8S is 3G at this point.

Windows Phone 8S by HTC Overview - HTC Smartphones

Recombu (a UK tech site) states that the 8s will be priced at around ?200 -?250, perhaps this is why?

Windows Phone 8X by HTC Overview - HTC Smartphones
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
HSPA/WCDMA: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz

Windows Phone 8S by HTC Overview - HTC Smartphones
GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
HSPA/WCDMA: Europe/Asia: 900/2100 MHz

Not even sure the 8S has HSDPA... this is starting to make more sense now... it feels like the Curve 8900 to Curve 8520 fiasco all over again...

I hope HTC gets their act together. The last thing they need is another reason for consumers to call the 8S lackluster.

I was looking into the 8S. With no 4G, I am definitely writing this phone off to buy. Maybe I'll wait for the sweet looking Huawei if the price is right. I had an Huawei Android, low price and reliable, so I trust the brand.
