Capacitive backlight buttons

Hi all,

Picked up an 8X today. Unfortunately an faulty one... it freezes after a few minutes of usage, so will get an exchange done tomorrow. I noticed my capacitive backlight buttons don't light up. On youtube I see some reviews whereby they work and some that don't. Is it just the occasional 8X that has non functional backlights?

Mine light up sometimes and turn off sometimes, depending on ambient light levels. The light sensor is very sensitive.

EDIT: also, it seems I am on hardware revision 0002.
