I am considering getting my mother in law an 8GB 8x that amazon is selling for $0.01 and I was wondering how much storage is left over after OS and default apps are installed.

I doubt she would download music files and videos as she just has a standard flip phone.

Well the OS takes up 2.41GB on my 16GB 8X. The actual total capacity is 14.56 GB so for an 8GB I would figure the actual capacity is 7.28GB , then subtract 2.41GB for the OS leaves you with around 4.87GB actual usable free space. That doesn't include the default apps or the "other" category, I'm not sure how much space they take up sorry. Someone with an 8GB should be able to give you better info.

    so about 4.8GB...hmmm

I hope that's enough for mother-in-law (about 62years old ) so I am hoping she doesnt get too happy and start recording everything...or gasp, downloading apps all over the place.

7.28gb system uses about 2.4, with many apps installed I have 4.17gb left.
