I just installed the new portico update on my HTC 8X, but now the phone is unuseable as it just constantly reboots itself. I tried powering off and powering back on but that doesn't solve the problem. Anyone else having the same issue? I have alreay had to turn in my last HTC 8X for a similiar issue and don't want to have to do it again. Frustrating!

I am having the same issue. I'm now at around 4 restarts a day.

I've got the same experience. It shuts down even though the battery has a long way to depletion. Using the phone for more than half an hour is almost impossible, as well as taking even a single picture. If it shuts down I need to connect it again.

Tried restoring it to factory settings, but that didn't work.

So fricking frustrating! Has anyone come up with a solution?

Anyone ever figure out the issue, cause it's getting worse on my phone. Started after portico install a few times a day and has now progressed to at least a dozen times a day...

Portico is not the issue here, but the firmware or faulty RAM. What carrier are you with?

Minereboots on average about once a week. I've taken to keeping things like Bluetoothturned off when I'm not using it, which may or may not be helping. I sawanother post on here claiming that there may be some shorting going on in theSIM card tray, and that putting some tape on the SIM card to insolate it fromthe metal cage may help. I haven't tried this yet, as aside from the occasionalreboot I haven't had any SIM errors or problems. Has anyone else looked into this? Oh and my carrier is T-Mobile.

Here is the post I was mentioning. I know it has more to do with SIM errors, but some where claiming that their phones were rebooting possibly due to the SIM card shorting. Placing the tape on the back of the card prevented the short, and stopped the rebooting. Worth a try if nothing else.

The weekly reboots are most likely due to a task that hangs and either the OS reboots or you get the battery drain. Not sure why it would help to insulate the rear of the sim... Yeah try it. The reboot problem hits all WP8 devices. One 'work around' is to remove the sim pin if there is low risk of theft and the reboots are limited to once a week. If you have multiple daily reboots, then there is something wrong with the hardware. Send such phones in for repair or exchange.

You can also try this: a) disable automatic date and time adjust. In November 2012, before Portico this helped some 8X owners in Germany that had reboot problems.
