8X ringtone / notifcation distortion

I have only had a 8X for about 4 weeks now and I am just starting to notice something that's really annoying me. On some surfaces, flat surfaces like some tables seem to cover up the 8X speaker and when a call or notification comes in the sound is horrible distorted as I believe the sound is reverberating with in the case. Has anyone else discovered such problem ? is it a problem with my 8X or should I just put a case on it ?

Same thing with a pouch. I think they never designed it for pouch or case. What I do is place him in the pouch upside down so that the bottom speaker is on the edge of the pouch. No more distortion.
