I am sorry but all I could do was laugh n your comment.
Huawei is not a small company, they may be based in China, but they have huge sales volume.

You could, repeat 'could' talk to them on their twitter/Facebook page (if they have any) and ask them about updates, also ask fellow w1 owners to join you.

Its social media which creates a buzz, if you feel that 100 people send an email to Huawei with a hope that they will bow down, you are wrong my friend. Huawei is not a wp8 player, it plays in Android market, they can abandon wp8 completely if they want to.

I flash a GDR2 Rom for O2 UK and then do update to GDR3 and i am happy now and i will have updates quicker than i except ...great feeling

Only wp customers would abandon them, they treat their android fans like 'your majesty' kinda thing.
I don't like that company either way, known for making cheapish chinese toys with poor after sales support, atleast in my country.

Personally i love the p6 edge but that's it. bearing in mind the last rep i saw had the battery pack to his phone in a seperate rucksack id say more support to and feedback from Europe

Honestly, I've been a Huawei user for 4 years already. I have many of their broadband sticks and wifi routers and a feature phone that is used to call landlines.
Their service was way good before. One time, when my featurephone had it's firmware failure, I sent it to Huawei's repair center and the repairs were done fast and telephone hotlines were easily accessible. Now, it is a pain for me to ask them a single question regarding firmware updates. I think it has something to do with their orientation to Windows Phones.

I also consulted Microsoft for this and they clearly stated that "HUAWEI IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DISTRIBUTION OF WP8 UPDATES" although it is unclear if they won't do it, will they violate Microsoft's policies?

Well, I'll be ditching their phones but not their modems since they are efficient and easy to use. Nokia is been waiting for my comeback. :3

I just got an e-mail from local Greek Huawei, saying that GDR2 update will be available on next week.

Devices can be updated ONLY in service center. OTA procedure will not be available.

hi people this is my first post, this tutorial will help you get gdr3 on huawei ascend w1, probably will let you get gdr2 if you dont have it, i cant prove it cause my w1 (from venezuela) comes with gdr2 from factory (or store) so i used the tutorial and got gdr3. and is awesome.

you may have to translate be cause the tutorial is in spanish.

I can confirm that GDR3 is working on the Huawei Ascend W1-U00. Huawei are misleading customers when they say "GDR2 is not supported due to lack of hardware", whereas I am currently running GDR3 with no problems whatsoever!

Lee, if you get Preview for Developers (available here: Preview for Developers | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)), you can update to GDR3.
