Touch screen stops responding?

I know I'm a bit late to the game here, and I'd be quite surprised if anyone else here is still using the Optimus 7, but I'd be curious to know if anyone else here has had the issue where the touch screen stops responding. The phone itself is still responding to button presses, but no matter what I do, the touch screen won't respond. There seemed to be a few others on the XDA forums that had a similar issue a while back. It seems to me like it could be a hardware related issue, and it makes me very leery about buying another LG phone (even something like a Nexus 4).

It sounds like your digitizer is broken.

The interesting thing is that it works almost all of the time. It's only every few days that the touch screen craps out. When it does, I pull the battery, put it back in, restart the phone and it's fine. Sometimes it goes for days or even weeks without issues, and other times it acts up multiple times in the same day.
