535 owners: Do you recommend it?

So I broke my 1520 :( And they wanted to send me a M8 windows(which I refused) or an Android(I contemplated it....)

That being said, I have a question. Would you recommend the 535? I figured i'd get a phone for cheap AND NEW and I would've considered the 635 with att but it lacks a front camera. And the 640 has yet to show up.

1. Is the 535 a good buy? The selfie cam is a definite plus.

2. IS the touch issue with the 535 fixed? I've seen videos but they were a few months old.

3. Which version is the US compatible one?

I am thinking of green or orange :D

I don't own a 535 so I can't really comment on some of your questions,but

1.) why not get the m8 or an expensive android and then sell it for another 1520,930, or 830. That way you'll have a new phone and most likely a good sum of money leftover.

2.) why not get a 925, or 928? They're around the same $100 price mark but have sharper screens, with much more high quality cameras.

Just my 2 cents

I'd have to also use the M8 for a bit so I can have a phone and after spending a weekend using my friend's android, I cant say I want to do that. Plus there is no guarantee it'll sell and sell right now unless I do ebay or something another. Plus no point in buying ANOTHER 1520. Might as well try something new.

I loved my 920 but they also were dual core. And I am not sure how WP runs on them nowadays as well.

Get the m8, buy an unlocked 830, and then sell the m8 afterwards, which would definitely if sold for its correct value will cover the cost of that 830 and give you leftover money

Micah, if you can deal with H+ instead of lte and broken mms...the best WP deal out there now is an Ativ SE on eBay. Manufacturer refurb starting at $159. Had it not been a Verizon exclusive, I'd be typing on one right now.

Ugh Samsung.....i only hate them less than HTC lol. But yeah I just saw that on eBay now. That isn't a bad price at all.

And oh my, the se forums are dead lol. I'd like to at least have a community haha.

I'd just try and find a 640 online that'll get lte on your network, because the 535 will be very inferior.. Idk if you value camera quality but did you know the 535 can only record in 480p?
The 640 would be a much better value, and also if your in the u.s unlike the 535, the 640 will be a phone the Microsoft store can replace/service for you unlike the 535, since it is not in the u.s

I thought Microsoft was meant to fix it

Some owners have had luck with repairs others like myself had the same multipoint touch experience with it after returning.
I'm going to send mine to Microsoft again to see what happens.
If it comes back fixed to my satisfaction it's for sale Lol...

You could get one and give it a go, just be prepared to send it back if you aren't one of the lucky users.

Okay that isn't worth the trouble lmao. Besides I am ordering from amazon so idk if I can send it off. S
So I guess that leaves the ativ se or Nokia 640

Hi

YES, I recommend buying a 535. My touchscreen had the much dread bug, indeed, a HW issue, and I had it replaced by Microsoft. The process was a bit complicated (had to go vocal on the former nokia discussions forum, was asked to give my IMEI by PM, and then had to send my 535 to the Nokia/MS Care).

Now it's back, and I really love it. My daily driver is a 1020, and to read emails/do "productivity" tasks, the 535 is gorgeous.

During a week abroad, I've used the 535 for : geocaching, GPS, calls, internet, etc. Brilliant device, really.

And I'm not a selfie guy, but we had to test that 5MP camera with my wife during our holidays, the 5MP captures really made me change my opinion: now selfie is possible, thanks to the 535, bought at 79€!

To be comprehensive on the FFC, it is only 480p for video/skyping (not a problem to me).

After having considered using it as my daily driver, I've changed my mind... because I've installed W10TP on it (the main reason why I bought the 535DS) :D Runs as smooth as a TP can, and looks very promising. But for obvious reasons, I won't use any device sporting a technical preview as my primary device, so that's why I keep my 1020 as the daily driver.

But again, if you can test the 535 before buying it (to test the screen) or return it for free (Amazon allows that) after having checked the screen after delivery, 535 is the low-end to go. I think it's far superior over 435/532.

If you're ready to spend ~220-230 on a 640 why not pay slightly more and get either 830 or 640 XL instead? Both are better devices for 30-40 bucks more

I have the 535, NO ISSUES with it. Touch is fine, runs great, does all the normal day to day stuff great, gets a bit hot with games and some video but apart from that a brilliant device. I changed from an iPhone 5 and note no issues with this phone.

In America it is only $129 and rumored to be $99 on another carrier. So there is at least $150-200 difference for the 830 and the 640 xl isn't officially announced just yet and I'd hate to spend that much money for it only to discover the us version is cheaper.

I thought you mentioned the unlocked variant from Amazon? Besides the 129 and 99 are carrier variant prices, plus they can't be used on AT&T unless unlocked

I have a 535 with the latest Win 10 build. touch issues are not much of a problem, only the scaling issues.

Camera, calls and texting are fine.

My only complaint though is the low end/res screen. And its much worse on Win 10.

Buuut I'd recommend it on win 8.1 update 2
