Reasons I think I'll enjoy the new breed of Lumias (950 and 950 XL)?

Re: Reasons I think I'll enjoy the new breed of Lumias (950 and 950 XL) People forget because they haven't had a device to remind them. ;) Posted via the Windows Central App for Android

    Potential switch to Android

Wrong. An oft uttered fallacy around these parts. Having used the Nexus 5 and recently 6 as my daily drivers, I can assure you that the OS is just as smooth as WP, but also, much quicker. That's not to say that there aren't some janky apps around, Chrome being the most high profile offender...

Android Lollipop is a 'train wreck'

Meh. Hyperbole and nothing more. Lollipop is a dot zero release which looked to implement an entirely new design language, hundreds of new APIs, a long list of new native OS enhancements and a new runtime system. That's an ambitious tick sheet for any company to tackle. Did it come out of...

Microsoft turning up the heat in the UK

As a dual user with a Nexus 5, I don't feel the pinch too much. Still, I find it irritating that the BBC seems happy to do the absolute bare minimum on WP, despite market share being around the 10% mark here. They're a public service and I would have thought 10% is a significant enough number to...

    Denim starting roll-out ... very soon (?)

WMP seem to think they have a sniff of an immanent release (see here). I'm itching to try out Lumia Camera; it claims to have addressed many, if not most, of the problems I have with the current app. I have no doubt that the new features will deliver, but if the speed improvements on the SD800...

New to Nokia Lumia 930, from Galaxy S3

Mytube is a very nice alternative YouTube app. I'm comfortable saying I probably prefer it to the native Android YouTube app. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android

1520 is still the best Windows Phone in the market

I think there are pros and cons to both. That being said, a 5" 1520 with a glance-capable AMOLED screen would be my dream windows phone device. Despite liking the 930, I'm really not massively keen on the square shape, metal band direction they seem to be taking higher end Lumia phones towards...

Which one is better the Nokia Lumia 930 vs LG Nexus 5?

Re: Nokia Lumia 930 vs LG Nexus 5 Those claiming that the N5 has a 'bad' camera are being disingenuous. The camera is quicker than the current Nokia one and takes some quite impressive shots, in my experience. It has some nice features like panorama (which is much better than the Lumia...

Could Microsoft have fooled tech bloggers about a Flagship release?

It's a tempting thought for those of us that want something a little bit more worthy than the 930 as a flagship-class successor to the 920, 1020 and 1520, all of which ushered in some genuinely exciting tech. (I say that as somebody who uses the 930 and has been won round by it since the...

Why is the Nokia Lumia 830 so expensive?

A little patience may help. The Lumia 930 had already had around 25-30% of its sim-free price taken off. That's after just a few months. Admittedly it is weird seeing less than ?10 difference in price between the 930 and 830 on Amazon right now, though.

What is the future of Windows Phone?

This cropped pic was posted by WMPU - gives a little more insight into where they want to take the mobile UI. Note the Windows Phone style control buttons (back, home, search) on the tablet... Interesting, certainly, but it's the universal apps that I want to hear more about.

Which will be next Nokia / Ms Phone Oct-Nov-Dec time frame ?

I think we might be being a little overly-optimistic about the chances of seeing a new flagship device this year. There have been next to no rumours indicating that there is anything more to look forward to once the 830 has launched. All sources indicate an outright delay/shelving of the...

Why Nokia doesn't use premium material

I could maybe tolerate something like the material used on the Surface tablets, but in all honesty, metal is just not a great material to use for a phone outside of the fact that for some people it has an appealing aesthetic. Polycarbonate has a nice feel in the hand, is more robust, permits...

How many have you converted ?

My other half sold her Nexus 4 and replaced it with a Lumia 1520 - quite the change. That was based on some hands on time with WP8.1 on my 930.

Announcement to Release - Too long of a lag... Why can't MS learn this?

I'm hoping this is something which will change for the better once MS starts exerting more influence on its device pipeline. Maybe they don't have the manufacturing side at the high end as nailed down as they would like and they have to balance that against optimum times to unveil. This might...
