Async C# -- Anyone else in love?

Well, I meant production-worthy. It's still CTP, so it's not going to make into much of my code. Beta, maybe.

    WP "Easter Eggs"

Ya, I love the :-o when you have too many texts. I didn't notice that for close to 11 months after I got my phone.

Async C# -- Anyone else in love?

Yeah. I'm looking forward to it. Most of my day job is ASP.NET MVC, so I'm not sure I'll get much use out of it there. But whenever it makes its way to Windows Phone and whatever we'll have for Windows 8 apps, I'm sure I'll be taking advantage often.

    Small Win for WP?

Agreed. I'm a subscriber to the Wall Street Journal and slowly, WP7 gets mentioned more and more in articles. They used to mention the top 2 and RIM. Now it seems they mention the top 2 and WP7 (when they do mention a third). I see that as a good sign that it's getting in the mind of journalists...

    Newbie questions

I agree on the Zune vs. iPod thing. I have an iPad and I think the music player is just plain awful compared to Zune. And yes, the facebook app on Windows Phone is not the best which is why I never use it. I much prefer the built in integration as it keeps me from having to look in lots of...

    Becoming a Developer

My stupid app is called "Awesome Button". Just don't tell anyone I told you that.

I want to switch from BlackBerry.

I'd make the jump if I were you. Blackberry just seems to be stumbling a lot lately. It's a sinking ship. I think the typing experience is really solid on WP7. Although I preferred the physical keyboard on my old school Blackjack, the soft keyboard on WP7 really good in terms of correcting. I...

    Question about apps and security

Yeah, this is no different than going to any unknown website. A positive word is that if Microsoft finds out about something very bad being done with an app, they'll yank it from the marketplace. For example, location. A developer can declare that they need location of a user, but declaring...

Would You Get a Non-Black Phone?

Yeah. My wife is waiting for something like the pink lumia to arrive in the us before switching from her iPhone to windows phone. I'd probably get a colored one if it was super sweet. Sent from my SGH-i917 using Board Express

Whats it going to take to convert IPhone/Android users to Windows Phone

The way I see it is that Xbox used to be the big underdog. Everyone had a PlayStation or PlayStation 2. Now look at it. They kept throwing money at it, overcame the PlayStation 3 buzz and now it seems everyone I know is getting an Xbox and Kinect for Christmas this year. As long as they keep...

Missing feature - automatic profile switching (oh, and profiles ;^) )

I remember that feature on my Blackjack. I could never fully trust it, though, as a few times it didn't work as expected. I couldn't ever figure out why it didn't work sometimes, so I always ended up doublechecking.

    Long Press Battery

Interesting idea. Those icons are so small, though. The target would be difficult to hit without tapping on something else. At least in apps. Might work on the home screen, though.

    Becoming a Developer

Build something really stupid knowing that it's going to be stupid. But doing that stupid thing will build skills that you'll rely on when you want to build something cool. In fact, I have an app in the Marketplace that is my "stupid" app. People download it an use it. But it's really dumb...

Zune does not recognize Samsung Focus

I think this happened to me once. I believe I uninstalled Zune and reinstalled it.

Kinectimals on ios, good or bad for WP7?

I think it's okay. With the Xbox stuff and the OneNote app on iOS, I think that it can help to discourage the old thinking that Microsoft is evil, stodgy, etc. Some people may never have used the cool Microsoft items, so this at least may help push the mindset about Microsoft in the right direction.
