This makes me wonder how often core apps will be updated (I'm looking at you, XBOX Music...).

Apps that show the Status Bar at all times (like Facebook Beta) should fill the extra space with the app header color (i.e. blue) like how it is on iOS7 and in the new HTC Sense.

With the Device and Service acquisition happening very soon, I doubt there will be updates pushed out in the usual sense. Remember now that the Nokia developers are going over to Microsoft to work. Any news of future updates are just speculation for the time being.

According to Daniel, it's not Swype, but it is a new gesture based keyboard option. Whether it's better or less advanced that Swype remains to be seen.
