The best way to remove ads from the Windows 11 Start menu is now on sale

Start11 does not use Windows 10 components in the way that StartAllBack and some other programs do. Even when Microsoft blocked some systems from updating, it was computers running StartAllBack, not Start11. Brad Sams from Stardock is quite active on X (Twitter). I'm sure he'd be happy to...

Microsoft's latest Copilot coercion forced me through the five stages of grief over the death of the Windows 11 desktop

I think it's already ridiculous at this point. These features should be opt-in, not opt-out. And many of them should just be separate apps.

Microsoft Copilot could take away this Windows 11 feature as the tech giant desperately pushes AI

That's fair. I suppose I could have said that Microsoft now comes off as even more desperate than before.

Microsoft is bringing back this excellent File Explorer feature I bet you didn't know existed or had been removed

I think that's the norm. A lot of people assume others are power users or enthusiast. While there are people who used this feature and are happy to see it return, I bet if you polled a group of everyday PC users they wouldn't know about it.

Employees spill some secret changes coming in a future Microsoft Store update

I used WSA and have used Bluestacks. Neither are (or were) perfect. I'd say Bluestacks is more versatile out of the box, since you don't need to jump through 50 hoops to use Google Play.

Microsoft is bringing back this excellent File Explorer feature I bet you didn't know existed or had been removed

The first line of the article is "Microsoft is bringing back a File Explorer feature that many have missed but there's a chance you haven't used before." I know a lot of people miss the feature. There are also a lot of people who read the article who have never used it before.

How to watch Microsoft announce the next Surface Pro and Surface Laptop

Microsoft can't release a laptop with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite before Qualcomm launches that processor. The next Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 has what is arguably the most exciting processor in the Windows space for years. Microsoft needs to wait a few months to be able to ship PCs...

Did Apple just patent a Surface Studio clone?

I'd love to see more competition in this space. Hopefully Apple making a more modern studio device would push Microsoft to do the same.

Here's why Windows Subsystem for Android got killed off, according to a 29-year Microsoft veteran

The "quite easy" steps you just listed are far beyond what millions of people will ever do on a device. I understand it's not technically difficult to install an APK, but a ton of everyday users just click to install apps and will never use command line or anything similar.

Here's why Windows Subsystem for Android got killed off, according to a 29-year Microsoft veteran

The Amazon Appstore is so lackluster that it's almost unfair to compare it to the Google Play Store. Perhaps a more accurate statement would be "without a good store," but I didn't want to put words in the mouth of the Clinick. He has far more knowledge of it than me, so if he says WSA doesn't...

I used extensions on Edge for Android for one week, and I don't know how I lived without them

uBlock Origin works better and is more customizable than the built-in adblocker on Edge in my experience. But it is nice that there's one built in.

Poll: Should Microsoft's games be exclusive to Xbox?

I think new Microsoft games and games that have traditionally been exclusive should stay exclusive to Xbox console. IPs that are on other consoles and then bought by Microsoft should remain on any consoles they were on before.

Edge extension support on Android will give you a genuine reason to switch from Chrome, as long as Microsoft doesn't mess it up

I know this is rich coming from someone who uses Edge mobile, but it seems like some people will just never use Firefox. I'm not sure why tbh as it's a good browser with plenty of features. I would guess that if Microsoft added full extension support, or even just a large library of nice...

Microsoft News Roundup: YouTube for Windows Phone getting an update, Suicide Squad bombing, and cramming an AirTag in a Steam Deck

Do you miss Windows Phone? I admit over the years I've gotten used to Android, but there are parts of Windows Phone I miss.

Report: Xbox is planning to publish Starfield on PlayStation 5

Microsoft's actions over the years make it clear the company would prefer two PlayStation customers over one loyal Xbox user who has been in the Microsoft ecosystem for years. I understand from a business sense that two is greater than one, but I wonder what the consequences of continuing this...
