I should say my wife is still perfectly happy with her 640, but she asks far less out of her phone than I do. She calls and texts, plays chess, and has maybe 5 apps she uses. I expect her to keep it for another year, maybe 2.

Not to mention the biggest factor in how it sounds in headphones are the headphones themselves. :) It sounds good on the Sony headphones I keep on my desk, but I'm sure it sounds like crap on some that you buy at the register of the 7-11.
