Problems with the strap of my Microsoft Band

While wearing my band all day and all night long, also when I'm sporting (this is the purpose, isn't it?), the rubber material on the strap is pealing off! (bought my Band 3 months ago in Boston)

Re: Problems with the strap of my Microsoft Band

Same thing here since yesterday, band about 6 weeks old and worn around the clock, every day. Was already reported in another thread and warranty isn't working for it; we'll have to live with it 😒

Did you purchase Microsoft complete? I took mine back to the store and had no issues at all. They exchanged it right on the spot

Re: Problems with the strap of my Microsoft Band

The point is that mine comes from a UK reseller and I'm in France 😌, can you imagine the hassle? Another point is that the new one will be in the same state within weeks I guess, I just stick with it for the moment...

Same for me. I bought it in Boston (US) and I'm living in Belgium... Just stick with it, I guess... :(

Re: Problems with the strap of my Microsoft Band

Just so you know, my Band has lost all of the rubberized coating on the inside as well. I called Microsoft when this started, and they said that the Band is designed to work regardless of the condition of the coating. Mine has been this way since December, and I've had no issues with the functionality of it.

Re: Problems with the strap of my Microsoft Band

Its designed to work with the parts falling off the rubber guards on the batteries.....but is it comfortable? I fear this happening to mine soon as well. I would love to be able to buy new rubber battery covers. They are easily screwed on and off if you had extras.

Re: Problems with the strap of my Microsoft Band

To ne honest I have the impression that it's more comfortable without the rubber, less sticky due to less sweat.

Actually, I have to agree with Tonio78. While the coating definitely adds looks, and protection I'm assuming, it feels better on my skin without it. The missing coating is unnoticeable when the Band is on, so it's not a big deal to me.

If they're bringing another out in a few months, perhaps they'll offer a trade-in for us buyers of the first experiment.

Re: Problems with the strap of my Microsoft Band

Where did you buy them....and how much for each set?
@Rich215, our forum friend Lilac G has 2 posts so far -- it looks like a spammer who is trying to earn enough posts so they can add URLs (check their other post). Anyone who has ever seen a Band knows there is no such thing as a "replacement strap."

In fact, I'll make a guess...did anyone else already subscribed to this thread get an email alert when Lilac posted that did include a URL (for Russian mail-order brides or Chinese Rolex watches, etc.)? If so you should click on the "Report Post" button. :winktongue:

thanks gadgetrants......I didnt think there was any ability to buy parts for the band.

When the rubber starts coming off my battery covers, i plan on using some of the black carbon protectors from Armorsuit to cover them. I ordered a big sheet for a 7 inch tablet of it for cheap on the bay since I also have it on the other parts of my band. I might have to cut probably 3 pieces for each cover to make it fit smoothly with the large side curves. Id just like to have the band all black. Though I would imagine that as other stated, having smooth metal is more comfortable anyway.

*knock on wood* I've had mine 8 months now and I go in the "barely any signs of wear" category. A very small amount of bubbling on the sensor plate but that's about it. Of course my bezel is covered in scratches and I've earned a deep gouge or two on the glass itself.

But otherwise, I'm a heavy sweater when I work out, so I also subscribe to the "skin chemistry" theory of rubber pad erosion. I've never washed my Band off (just a light, dry towel) and so far, so good. I wouldn't assume you'll lose yours until your sure!

Hopefully the rubber coating will not rip and start to peel off. Im not that hard on the band and wipe it off with a damp towel after I get out of the shower. (dont use alcohol on rubber....dries it out yo).

I have had the band for about 2 months now and just in the past week or two have noticed the rubber bubbling only on one side.

Hmmm...just curious what you mean by, "....after I get out of the shower..."?

But yeah by your picture I'd say the Armorsuit is a good investment!

If you use alcohol or soap on the band it will destroy the plasticizer finish on the plastic and start degrading. That info is in the safety booklet Nothing about it in the quick start guide.

I've got the bubbling going on on one side of my band as well. Purchased in March - so is the consensus that Microsoft won't replace this (unless you have the Complete Care coverage?)
