950 compatablie with old Nokia wireless charging stand / car charger?

I've seen people on the XL forum complain that they don't work, but I haven't seen anything about the 950. Has anyone tested them?

I believe the issue is that that coils don't line up for the 950 XL, at least on Nokia's charging stand, because that stand was designed at a time when 5 1/2+ inch phones with wireless charging weren't yet a thing.

FWIW, My Nokia DT-910 charging stand works perfectly with my 6" screened 1520.

Brent#WP...I have a fairly thick feeling case from AT&T on my 950 and have an old qi Nokia charger from when I got my 920. It works., Although not nearly as fast as plugging it into an ac outlet with the supplied charger.

My 950xl works if I lay it horizontal on the charger. If I stand it up, it doesn't align properly. I do notice that the charge isn't as fast as my Icon was but since I charge overnight, it makes no difference.

That would make sense it's not as fast since the 950 XL has a bigger battery.

Richard_Indy....just to make sure is the Nokia charger you have the stand up on or the flat one that lays down that AT&T was including free when the 920 first came out?

I have the DT910 and Lumia 950, currently with no case and the stand does work but I have to be more careful about placing the phone properly than I did with my Icon.

I am using my wireless charging pad from my old Lumia 910 with no problem. I also have a casemate case and it still works.

I have the 90 (not XL) and the DT-910, and the wireless charging works, however it does seem like it takes an extra second for it to kick in, and also I have to be a bit more careful with its positioning on the charger, to have it lined up perfectly.

The Qi works on my 950 with my 920 Day1 plate + JBL PowerUp, (Duracell PMA mat that I have works as well)
Honestly though, as much as I have enjoyed wireless over the years since the 920, the new quick charge with USB-C is hard to beat.
I tried Qi + USB-C but then the phone started heating up so I stopped the Qi.
Edit-just noticed this is more about other chargers besides plate and don't know how to delete post, my apologies.

I have both, and both of them worked on my AT&T 950. I get the feeling that the coils just barely line up to make the connection, but they do charge. The buttons also barely clear the clamps on the CR-200 luckily. A case that covers the buttons might end up getting pressed though since it will enlarge the button footprint.



I tried the 950 XL previously with both and can confirm that it did not work with either in the standard upright position.

Three days of ownership, I've noticed that it's kind of hit and miss for me. When placed on my Nokia DT910 charging stand, the charging light turns on and the phone shows that it's charging and at one point it did charge. But this morning I woke up to find that my phone only charged to 65%.

Think I'll pick up a 3 coil charger and try that one out. Anyone have recommendations on a 3 coil stand?

I find with the stand that you have to make sure that it is lined up dead center. As noted above the light comes on and the glance screen stays on, but unless the alignment is perfect it will only partially charge or even worse not at all. The last two nights I have been super careful and woke to a 100% charge both days.

I can confirm that the Nokia wireless charging pad that came with my Lumia 920 works very well with my new Windows Phon 950. Incidentally, the round Samsung wireless charging pad also charges my Windows 950. I do not have wireless car charger so I can't answer that part of your question.

I have been using the DT-910 stand charger with the 950 and it is very particular. I have had it work mostly but every once in a while, I put in on the stand at night and it is dead as a doornail in the morning. Not liking the hit or miss aspect so will probably need to look for a better option.

My phone (950) will only charge on the Nokia stand if I do not have a case on it. I'm actually thinking it is a power issue, because it will charge with a case on with the jbl speaker and my iottie car charger. I'm going to get a stronger power adapter and see if that works.
