Hey all,

I'm having a frustrating problem with my Lumia 950. My PC simply will not detect it as a USB device when plugged into a USB port on my PC.
It stopped working after the .164 update. Older versions worked with my windows 7 machine and then stopped working after the .164 update.

I just built a new Win10 machine and thought maybe it would work with my new machine but alas that is not the case. The phone is charging off the USB so the ports are working. I've sent MS info about the problem via the Windows Feedback app.

Any ideas?

Thanks

are you using the cable that CAME with the 950? have you tried different USB ports? Go into device manager to see if anything has an "!" next to it?

Yep. Using the data cable that came with the phone. I've tried all USB ports on my computer. Device manager simply will not find the phone. No indication anywhere that any USB device is connected. Tried searching for devices via the device manager and nothing found.

Edit: Just tried my Lumia 1020 and it worked flawlessly. So it's definitely something with my 950

Do you have a MicroSD card in your 950? I've seen reports of the 950 not showing up in Win10 if you have a MicroSD card in it. If you do, try taking the MicroSD card out and see what happens. I don't have a MicroSD card in mine and it shows up just fine in Win10 latest preview build.

I have the same problem!
I wanted to go back to official build as Redstone builds suck big time.

OS:14283.1000
FW:16025.39014
Running Windows 10 on the PC.
Restarted phone and PC. Tested different ports. No luck...
No sign of the phone in device manager.
No SD-card.

Thanks for the response guys. I got my issue resolved. It turns out there was some debris stuck in the USB type-C port on my phone. I had to dig it out with a SIM ejector tool from my 1020. Kind of embarrassing :grincry:

Working OK now
