Yes I have officially updated my HTC Titan here in the UK. But you have to "force update" the phone. I had to repeat the process 3 times as my phone required 3 seperate updates.

    1st update: 7.10.8779.8
    2nd update: 7.10.8783.12
    3rd update: 7.10.8858.136 (Windows Phone 7.8)

It took me over 30 minutes to complete the process as the Force update does take some patience and timing because of have to keep trying over and over again. But it does work and I now have the official 7.8 running on my HTC TITAN.

P.S: my phone is a carrier/ sim free handset so dont know if carrier phones will get the update.

    Goodluck to all.

What about Titan II? Has anyone anywhere updated their Titan II? I've tried the cable/disconnect method and nothing :( I have a U.S. AT&T branded unit.

Damn, I was hoping this was for the US.

I'm glad WP8 has OTA updates now. This carrier dependence is awful.

I used this method on my HTC Titan, Forcing the Windows Phone 7.8 update: Camera button not required but patience is | Windows Phone Central, waited for a count of 1,2,3,4 before disabling my network connection. I did this and updated three times and eventually got to 7.8. Hope this helps someone else.

Could you describe the process? I've tried but if I disable my data connection on my phone, it'll say it can't check for updates at this time, and if I don't it'll say my phone is already updated.

I updated using seven-eighter program. If it fails, you need to download a patch from HTC.

Here is the page. Click "Update the HTC TITAN for Zune". Follow the instructions. The "download" link is on the very bottom. After, you will be able to use Seven-Eighter.
