Group Messaging question

I recently upgraded from 900 to 1020. It's great so far, but I'm having a small problem with group messaging. The group conversation started when I had a 900. When I reply to the group chat, I'm included. So I'm texting myself as well as everybody else. This didn't happen on the 900. Is there a way to remove myself so I'm only texting the rest of the group?

When you're sending texts, could you check that bar at the top of your screen?

If you're in that bar, you're one of the recipients.
