Windows Central Question

All,

We are planning to replace our work Apple phones with Windows Lumia 930 devices.

However, the biggest draw back is when initially setting up the phone, where it appears we need to use an email address ending in:
- hotmail.com
- live.com
- outlook.com
- ... or their .co.uk counterparts

All the users have Office 365, E3 accounts and we have Active Directory. Is there no way we can set up the phones with these login details?

Any advice, guidance or even a link to something which covers this (I'm sure there must be something out there?) would be appreciated.

Regards,

JC

Upon initially setting up the phone, it's asking for you to sign into a Microsoft account. (The hotmail, live, outlook, etc.) I'd sign into the same Microsoft account that they use with Office 365.

Hi Ed,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

For the sake of privacy I'll use the imaginatively titled company name, 'ABCD':

This means each users email address is firstname.surname@abcd.co.uk (i.e. Joe.Bloggs@abcd.co.uk)

However, when initially signing into the phone it doesn't recognise the login.

The link below is to a screenshot which shows the screen I am referring to.

We can try again, but I thought I would share our experience so far.

James

I'm sorry I can't be of more help. Hopefully someone with with more experience with this type of domain/user access will chime in.

Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a guide relating to best practice for setting up these devices as work phones in a company?

Regards,

JC

All,

Everyone in the company has Office 365 accounts, using the E3 license.

What is the best way to Configure the Windows Phone for our Staff?

Would I be right in saying the best way to configure the windows phone for our staff is:

  1. Switch the phone on
  2. Go through the default settings
  3. When we get to the sign in screen (screenshot in post 3 of this thread), the user enters an email address that matches:
    • hotmail.com
    • live.com
    • outlook.com
    • ... or their .co.uk counterparts

  4. Load the phone up
  5. Install Office 365
  6. The user logs in using their Office 365 account
  7. Done?
Thanks,

James

POSSIBLE ANSWER:

In the absence of a reply, then for anyone else wondering the same thing, I believe this feature is something the Windows 10 for mobile will have.

If anyone can confirm this by way of a web link to reference that would be good.

Thanks :orly:

James

Update to the above.

Having tested the new Windows 10 Preview, it does allow a company employee to login with their company details.

This is great news as it means everything is setup: Email, OneDrive and more.

However, for ourselves, the issue now is the trial user cannot access data abroad despite roaming being on. Any suggestions to resolving this would be appreciated.

Used in Malaysia few days back on Lumia 1520 and roaming worked perfectly.
While roaming check your access point settings, as the operator changes during roaming.

Also check with your service provider, about their terms for roaming.
