Hi!

Just got my surface 2 rt with kb and hd av adapter, but when i connect to my yamaha receiver via hdmi/hd cable, i get video on the tv, but audio keeps playing from the surface and not thru the receiver. Im playing audio from the spotify web player.
Can anyone help me with this?

I'm not sure what you can do to fix the HDMI audio problem. I had the same thing happened when I hooked my S2 up to my TV. Fortunately I have a sound bar that uses a standard audio jack.

If your audio does not switch automatically you can still set the playback device manually to HDMI audio.

I don't, and now I'm wondering why...? This is just the cable form the Surface 2 (not pro) to the TV, mind you.

Ive had the same problem! I found that the surface don't always switch to the HDMI audio source automatically, so you have to do it manually. This is done by going to the sound controle panel on the desktop (search for Audio settings on the start screen) as soon as you open the control panel the audio will switch to the appropriate source, or you can do it manually!
But I think may have found a fix, for it to switch automatically in the future: When in the audio control panel, click properties on the NVIDIA tegra audio speakers, go to advanced and uncheck the "expanded sound options" (might be named something else since mine is in Danish), at the bottom of the page. This should make the audio source switch automatically next time you plug in your HDMI.. but it will remove the 3d surround sound effect when using the speakers on the Surface 2, so there is a tradeoff, as it will "only" be stereo sound.

Hope this helps!
