Why does my Surface 3 go through a full shutdown when dormant for extended time?

Surface 3 Goes Through Full shutdown when dormant for extended time

When I put down my Surface (close the lid or hit the physical power button, and pick it back up within a 20-30 minutes, it will instantly come back on like my past Win8 tablets did. But, if I leave it for several hours, it routinely has completely powered down and has to go through a full reboot (get the Surface screen). Now that I have Win10, it is happening almost every time the device has been dormant for several hours.

I have worked with MS Support on the issue once, but the things they had me do did not change the issue at all. My questions:
  1. Is this "normal" behavior for the Surface?
  2. If not normal, are others having the same problem or is this a problem unique to my machine?
  3. Are there any fixes? (I have tried everything in the Power settings....)
Thanks for any help or just letting me know if this is not how your Surface works.

This is normal.
Connected Standby for the first 4-5 hours and it then sleeps... not shutdown.

Connected standby for 4 hours then hibernate. It's not a shutdown, just hibernate.

If you don't want it to hibernate, do the following:
Open admin command prompt
Type: powercfg -H OFF
Restart your system
