My scenario:

I take subway/train to work, the base stays in workplace, I take off the tablet to my home...

What can I do and not do in my home?

Checklist:

1. all my files stays with me (SSD is in the tablet)?

2. can watch videos or listen to music with Bluetooth headphone?

3. can work desktop PC style by connecting to monitor/mouse/keyboard (Miracast+Bluetooth)?

4. cannot connect my external USB HDD (no porn :p)

5. cannot recharge the battery? Will there be an option to recharge the tablet independently? Or do I have to bring the base with me to home (true it's not heavy, but still...)

Other ideas?

The battery life is ultimately going to restrict its usage for most of the items you list. Looking at your list, it sounds like you want a SP4, maybe with a dock for #3. SP4 is going to have a much better balance of portability and battery life in a tablet form factor.

You can definitely charge it without the base, the centermost connector port for connecting to the base is a power connector port.

I'm going to guess not - it's probably only going to work for the power. However, I suppose it is possible. But given that the USB in the power brick doesn't work that way, I'm going to guess not.

EDIT - Hmm - maybe it does. I wasn't aware that the power port was the only place you connect the dock to any of the models; I assumed that it also connected through the display port. But looking at the pictures, it appears I am incorrect with my assumption, so maybe you can. That would be pretty sweet.
