Hey everybody I am thinking about getting the surface pro 4 but am not sure which varient to get.

I currently have the macbooke air 11" mid 2012, i5 4gb ram and 64 gb storage.

And I want to upgrade from that I have had it for about 4 years and it is great it is very fast and has lasted me ages but recently I have noticed its slower takes longer to boot. So I think it's time for an upgrade

I want the surface pro to last me at least 4 years and be fast.

which one do you suggest

128GB / Intel Core m3 - 4GB RAM*-*AU$1,079.20
128 GB / Intel Core i5 - 4GB RAM*-*AU$1,181.00
256GB / Intel Core i5 - 8GB RAM*-*AU$1,616.00
256GB / Intel Core i7 - 8GB RAM*-*AU$2,011.00
256GB / Intel Core i7 - 16GB RAM*-*AU$2,263.00
512GB / Intel Core i7 - 16GB RAM*-*AU$2,768.00
1TB / Intel Core i7 - 16GB RAM*-*AU$4,199.00

I don't really do anything intense on my laptop I just surf the web watch movies go on YouTube download movies and yeah and might play a game every now and then like Minecraft or something but I can't run Minecraft on my macbook and it over heats within 5 minutes and shuts off thanks

1. I honestly think you MacBook needs a cleaning (with compressed air) if overheating is an issue.

2. You'll get by with all of those models. I'd recommend an i5 model with whatever load out you choose as a default suggestion but you'll probably get by just fine with the M3. Depends on the games though.

Something to note is that the Surface is exceedingly hard to repair so if you ever need to replace the display (e.g. it broke from a fall) or replace the battery, you can't.

These things should last a few years with care, but it really depends as software can get bogged down etc. depending on the user, environment, etc. Nothing permanent though.
