Hybrid Sleep on or off?

Just noticed on my Surface Pro that it would slowly drain out the battery through the day regardless of whether or not I'm using it. This appears to be rather a Win 8 thing than a Surface thing as my Lenovo X220T has had consistently worse standby battery life on Win 8 vs Win 7 just on default settings. My laptop used to be able to get through 4 or 5 days and be able to resume with battery without needing to hibernate, but after the Win 8 update, it's more like 2-3 day. My Surface seems to only hold for about a day or so...

I've been looking through the power options menu and noticed that Hybrid Sleep is on for battery mode by default (however it is off for AC power)... which is strange since everywhere I've read, hybrid sleep is optimized for desktops, not laptops, and especially not SSDs. So my question is, should hybrid sleep be turned off? Will that give me better standby time?
