Should I update my Sueface RT to 8.1?

So, I just bought my wife a Surface RT for Xmas. $199 Best Buy Black Friday.

I own an Asus Vivotab RT and after using my tab my wife wanted one like it.

After I updated my Vivotab RT to 8.1, I have had a plethora of problems. Many of which I have resolved but a few left still unresolved.

So, my wife will want to update her Surface RT to 8.1 on day one. I am worried about doing so looking at my own woes with the update.
I do understand they are different tablets, but both run Windows RT.

Any advice? Should I be concerned?

On the Surface RT, 8.1 makes it better in every respect. No downside.

I disagree. IE is worse.

When swiping up from the bottom, the layout has changed. No longer do you see you Pinned and Favorite websites all on the same line.

When opening some websites that have the password saved, it still goes to the login page. Used to it went right to the page. IE is not as enjoyable to me. Now maybe there is something I can do to "correct" or "fix" my annoyances, so I'm open to suggestions.
