Nokia mixRadio, where's the free stuff after unlimited licence expires ?

Well i loved mixradio, until my 3 month license which came free with my phone expired. I had until then presumed that it'll only void my unlimited downloads luxury, but i am unable to even use the play me feature. It says "you need to renew your unlimited downloads subscription", while at EVERY SINGLE PLACE it says that nokia mixradio offers free online listening of songs !!! i am okay with the skip limit of 4/6, but where's the free listening if i need a credit card for it ? It is totally free on the nokia X series (read at WPC), but what about wp ? Please explain, if anyone knows what's this cheating... Why do they advertise free ? I love nokia, and this is the only qualm I've had till now...

No idea why you're having this issue. Why not contact Nokia?

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling the app? I've been using the free for months now. No issues other than the repeats.

i reinstalled it millions of times ! I contacted nokia customer care via live chat online, they said there is no free feauture and i need subscription for listening also !
What is this ??? Anyone faced this issue ? Or can anyone enlighten me about why its happening ? I've tried every single thing within common sense limits, including making another nokia account (which obviously said that this phone has already used up its three months free). Help !

Have you tried canceling your expired subscription? In MixRadio, swipe left and tap settings > MixRadio+ > cancel subscription.

Sounds like it should be the way out, unfortunately there's nothing called 'cancel subscription' in the settings. I see:
renew subscription
Music voucher
Favorites
...and the rest
Nothing like cancel subscription
Could you please elaborate?

P.s. I didn't have a mixradio+ subscription, it was an unlimited downloads subscription, so i did have the limit on the skips. But now i cant even play me with limited skips !

The "play me" feature doesn't work after subscription ends, but the music available under "mixes" does work. Those are "pre-mixed" mixes, for lack of a better term.

Edit: I think there's a limit to that as well. I played a few songs and now it doesn't let me play anymore. Sorry

then why does nokia claim it is free ?? And why did a person above post that he/she has been using it after completion of subscription since months ?

And what you talked about, that happened because at that time it was loading your subscription details, once it realised that its expired, it didn't let you play a new one.

i been using for months too.. it is not free.. but it does not charge you if you just listen.. but data is not free.. if you are given a free 3 month subscription.. it will be stated in the app so that you can cancel if you want.. also you can login to the website account.nokia.com to check if you have FREE 3 months because it will definately be there on account profile.

i think its more like you are having free unlimited 3 months data and after which it will be not unlimited ( this is sim card provider and not nokia )

yup after subscription ended, Nokia Mix Radio is very bad, I guess you have Lumia 520 in India which have 3 months subscriptions, but after 3 months it will end, as I got 6 months in Lumia 720.
So I downloaded other app for songs like Gaana, Hungama etc. as ganna is better than nokia mix radio but it uses internet data too much as all songs are online to hear.

To everyone facing the issue of not being able to play mixes after subscription ends, download the new mixradio and DONT ever click on sign in or download. Then you'd be able to listen to all your mixes, play me etc ! :smile: it works as advertised now !
P.s. You cant download songs for free obviously.

I had this exact same problem, couldn't play anything after the free trial. What fixed it for me was doing the developer preview update to 8.1 It seems the advertised 'no ads, unlimited streaming' service is part of the Nokia sales pitch for the new OS version. Could be that once this is deployed to your phone (assuming you are not on the preview) that ought to fix it...

So my 1 year subscription expired last week. I can still open and search for songs but unable to download (its obvious) but I can listen to mixes , one can download 15 mixes which will refresh after every 20 days (check settings / auto refresh ). There is a limit in skipping songs (but if you have a music + subscription, the limit is removed with high quality music content is unlocked ). I will be renewing my licence tomorrow.

I think the offline mix download limit is actually four without a subscription...

I already have an Xbox music pass, but I must admit, having played with the Nokia mix radio, I am tempted to go for it. Can someone explain how the downloads work (ie can you select albums, or only mixes) - also, there is a suggestion with a subscription that you can also access the music on your PC? how does that work?

update the app. logout of ur account. then simply u will be able to play the music in ur phone and
the mixes.

i can play all the mixes i want now.. that's what i had posted a little above. Had done just what you wrote. Its a great great service !
