WP8.0 is the latest but to be exact OS Version should read 8.0.10327.77 which is the latest version out right now.

Yes i also saw somewhere that 8.0.XXX.XX is the precise version. So does that mean i have to update or its just that the exact precise version does not show up in phone details ?

The Lumia 1020 comes preloaded with the latest OS build (GDR2, Nokia Amber update), so no need to update. If your confused because you were expecting Windows Phone 8.1, that's expected to be launching in earlier 2014, but before that, we'll be seeing GDR3 released later this year, likely in the fall. It should bring support for more powerful processors, 1080p screens, and maybe something more.

Thanks guys for clarifying.. So i dont have to worry about amber update also which i dint knew.. Since i was hearing news on amber update, i thought 1020 also needs it.. So its only for 920 and earlier versions.. Until GDR3 1020 is good to go.. :)

As far as all Lumia devices go yours is the most up to date in terms of software and features. Older Lumia phones are still waiting for Amber/GDR2 plus the other Pureview Lumias (920, 925 and 928) are also waiting for the Nokia Pro Camera app that is already included with the 1020. I'm especially eager to get my hands on that app for my 920.
