Want to re-flash my 1020 with an unbranded rom

Hi guys,

First post here. Australian Telstra customer here.
Just got my new 1020 and would like to unbrand it. Although i cannot find any Amber roms anywhere for this phone. I've read some people comment that flashing the existing 920 amber update does not work for the 1020 so i do not want to risk it.

Anyone able to shed some light on this?

OS Version: 8.0.10328.78
My current firmware revision number is: 3050.0000.1338.1006

Not sure if this info helps but i also have Manufacturer Name: RM-875_apac_australia_new_zealand_243

I did read some post last week and it said you need to stay in the same Family, meaning if yours is RM 875, your target ROM needs to be RM 875, and not RM87x, else you'll be in trouble.

which code is the "unbranded" version? Looking at the list, they all seemed to have some form of supplier code (ie vodafone, etc), the only one that possibly unbranded is 059T4N3 (RM-875 VAR EURO GB CV YELLOW)

yeah I read that somewhere too, but didn't say which code used. Just having trouble which one is unbranded rom

Unbranded ones should be the ones that contain "CV" in their name (which should stand for "Country Variant"); below is one example:

RM-875 VAR EURO GB CV YELLOW

I've actually donated to the NaviFirm+ thing so I can get all the firmwares if needed. There's quite a lot of international 1020 roms being uploaded by Nokia

you dont need to pay nokia/navifirm for the firmware files you can get them easily enough through nokia care suite by pasting 1 file into the right folder i have made a thread here that will help users get the firmware files for free and also a product code list that shows pretty much all 1020 product codes including the cv variants and operator variants ;-) if you dont want to pay for firmware its well worth checking out ;-)

worth noting if you download firmware for a different product code ie unbrand it and flash via care suite you will need to do it in recovery mode with the phone off ;-) otherwise the firmware wont match the product code and care suite wont work ;-)

I had a quick read of the thread, and saw some users with success in flashing to unbranded firmware. Thanks so much! I will do this tonight

Hi Buxz777. I just tried to download firmware using this method. I installed the Nokia Care Suite but could not access the new .cfg file. However, I found it elswwhere and was able to run the Nokia software. However, after select "Check Online" I get an error message "The remote server returned an error. (407) Proxy Authentication Required". Anyone had this problem? Anyone have a solution?
