Hello there!

My brother bought a Lumia 1020 yesterday, and I noticed something strange in the settings. In the model name section it says, "Model: Nokia 909."
Why does it say 909 instead of 1020? It has been worrying me lately, that maybe I have received a prototype unit.
Can you tell what does it say in your "About" page?
Screenshots will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

It's working code name was Lumia 909.. for marketing, etc it was changed to Lumia 1020 later.

Thanks Sam, but does it mean that the one I have isn't a final version of the product? I mean if it is, then why is the name not 1020?

I am not Sam :), but it is common practice, particularly for Nokia, to continue using the internal device identifier (I.e. RM-909) even after the device is released to the public. Lumia 1020 is the public/marketing name while RM-909 is the internal/technical name.

Every single device marketed/sold as the "Nokia Lumia 1020" will list "NOKIA 909" as the model on the About screen, so no need to be worried :).

So I guess there's nothing to worry about then.

Thanks again :)
