Question for the board.... If there was a Lumia 1020 successor coming before the holiday season as many have speculated, wouldn't we be hearing more concrete leaks about the upcoming device? I search for information daily and find little to nothing! I hope I am wrong! Am I alone in thinking we might not see a successor this year? What day you?

First!!!!!

Can't you think of sexier device,
It's the hardest part, it must take time
Upgrade is easy

I too think we shall see no successor this year.

Don't expect a successor this year. Heck, I don't expect any high-end phones this year. My carrier is T-Mobile USA so I'm always pessimistic about high-end Windows Phones for my carrier.

But, I'm always up for surprises.

Cant I buy a high end Lumia from att and use on T-Mobile?

Agentmike, I think TMobile and ATT work together. Look it up, what networks they use.

Only to a certain extent. The 1900 MHz band is similar between the two, but that's it. If your region doesn't have it, you get Edge speeds. T-Mobile doesn't have a lot of this band and now they're expanding the 700 MHz band. If you want consistent speeds, stick with a T-Mobile phone or a phone like the Lumia 1520.3.

Every night before I drift off to sleep, I google/bing the same thing
"lumia 1020 successor"
"lumia 1820"
"lumia McLaren"
"lumia 1030"
and even more.

Just rumors, and I am sooo ready for a new phone. Don't want to buy a 1020 at this point. Still hoping the holidays will reveal this new 1020 or at least earlyt 1Q 2015. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'm so over Android, and can't wait to move to the Windows phone os. I bought a Surface Pro 3 and windows is it for me. Awesome.

This isn't completely accurate. AT&T owns large chunks of AWS (1700/2100, band 4) and thus its phones come with AWS compatibility which allows excellent compatibility with T-mobile's network in addition to the 1900 band.

The biggest issue with the proposed solution of buying an AT&T device for use on T-mobile would be getting it carrier-unlocked. AT&T has proven reluctant in many cases to issue unlock codes for new phones until after their exclusive contract period for the model has expired. In theory the class action lawsuit settlement is supposed to have changed that but I don't know that AT&T's behavior has materially changed. The law signed in August only provides legal protection for the action of unlocking..as far as I know it doesn't compel carriers to issue unlock codes.
