I would say 930, as it has a quad core processor, its a newer device & 20mp camera is enough for photography. Also its not bulky like 1020. 1020s camera is surely better, but do you need that monster camera? I think 930 is more than enough for daily use

1020 would be better but I would say wait for 1030 or go for 930 as it is more futureproof,

The 1020 has also 2GB RAM.
The Camera on the 1020 is much better, but the Camera on the 930 is faster.
The 1020 has Glance, the 930 not.

So, if you want the best Camera on a Phone, take the 1020. If not, take the 930.

I'm using a 1020 now, and I'm certainly waiting for the 1030 to be released before I even consider upgrading.

I've tried a 1520 last week and the camera is noticeably inferior when compared to my 1020, so I would imagine the upcoming 1030 to be a much better device. A 41MP camera with a modern quad core processor, the definition of a true Windows Phone flagship.

This.

Im in the same situation as the OP right now. I have a brand new 930 and a brand new 1020 with me and Im supposed to pick one... but just like the OP im having a hard time.

To those differences stated before, you have to add:

- SensorCore on the 930. Hardware is not present in the 1020.
- Screen: Blacks look better in the 1020.
- I have to add here: the 1020 Camera is WAY better (specially in low light) than the 930.

The CPU on the 930 is in theory faster, a lot faster, than the CPU in the 1020, but if you dont want to play games you wont notice any difference, both phones are smooth as it gets.

I have been using both phones trying to decide which one to keep... but I have yet to make a decision :(

930. Definitely the 930. There are already new camera features coming in the Lumia Denim update that the 1020 will not get. This trend will only continue. There has been zero evidence of a 1030, so don't bother waiting unless you plan to wait until Microsoft releases the first batch of phones with Windows 10 sometime in mid to late 2015. You can always sell the 930 after a year and get a newer flagship.

The new camera features are mostly speed related and 4k video. They are not coming to the 1020 cause the camera module/cpu just cant take pics faster.

The 1020 Camera is leaps and bounds better than the 930. I have been taking pictures with both using a tripod, and they are just not comparable ;)

For me personally it is right now: Awesome camera + Glance VS 5" Screen + SensorCore

Wish there was a phone with all those features :/ stupid compromises

Technically the 1020 has a better camera, but as a 1020 owner I would highly advise you to get the 930. You will have a much better overall phone still with a kickass camera (20MP is nothing to scoff at as most point and click cams are about equal) so there will be very few things that you would really need the 1020 to shoot. I love the 1020 but if I didn't have it or if something happened to it, I would totally go for the 930. Since I do have it and its still shooting great, I can afford to wait another year or two.

Get the 1020. I miss mine soooo much for the camera. I'm using the 1520 now which is the same camera as the 930 and it's good but not nearly as good as my old 1020. Much more zoom capability and lossless cropping with the 1020. Plus 1020 has Glance whereas the 930 doesn't. That's a deal breaker alone for me.

If I had the choice now of a 1020 or 930...

I'd probably get a 1020....the 930 isn't a bad phone(I love it's design) but owning a 1520 is great but using my mom's 1020, the speed differences in the processors really is not that noticeable. We're lucky to have an OS that isn't so heavy and can't run on older/weaker processors as well as the newer processors(Android).

It's why I laugh at HTC one m8 owners for bragging about the fact their phone has 801 over 800...because you know that makes the biggest difference between a 1520 vs M8 lol.

If you truly want the camera, then get the 1020....it's an exceptional camera that is unrivaled.

It has glance and I love the screen.

The 930 if you want something a little larger with a less powerful camera but a beautiful screen and a few enhancements on the phone's camera such as additional mics. The 930 is a more powerful phone in most cases however at the same time, this is WP and you'd be fine on a 1020 as well.
